Hiring range: $55,000 - $65,000 depending on experience

UrbanTrans North America is recruiting a Senior Planner at the company’s Atlanta office. UrbanTrans is a woman operated and owned transportation consulting firm specializing in innovative transportation solutions with a focus on multi-modal transportation planning, transportation demand management (TDM) programs, strategic planning, stakeholder outreach, complete marketing services and TDM program implementation. Our mission is to create sustainable environments by developing and advancing innovative transportation solutions.

The Senior Planner will manage and contribute to a wide variety of projects ranging from TDM, active transportation and shared mobility plans to providing planning support and program evaluation for transportation management associations and TDM programs across North America.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop tools and surveys to analyze the effectiveness of transportation demand management programs
  • Analyze data using Excel, Microsoft Access and other analysis tools
  • Develop maps and analyze geospatial data using ArcGIS
  • Conduct best practices research in the field of transportation planning
  • Assist with collecting input from stakeholder groups for the purpose of aiding the development of transportation plans and recommendations
  • Collect and analyze data to develop recommendations that result in the decreased use of single occupancy vehicles
  • Review and understand policy, legislation and relevant land use requirements as they pertain to TDM, and assist clients with associated compliance
  • Write planning reports and studies that summarize research and recommendations
  • Develop and conduct presentations
  • Manage project tasks, timelines and budgets
  • Interact with clients and develop and maintain client relationships
  • Follow industry trends
  • Assist with proposal development

Education and Work Experience Requirements
  • Master’s degree in urban planning or related field and three or more years of full-time professional experience related to transportation planning


  • Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or a related field and five or more years of full-time professional experience related to transportation planning 
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Computer skills including knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office applications, database management and GIS
  • Knowledge of statistics and data analysis
  • Knowledge of planning principles and practice
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and prioritize work tasks
  • Creative problem-solving skills
