The City of Riverside, California, is recruiting nationally for a highly experienced professional to lead, inspire, and manage the strategic initiatives and day-to-day activities of the City Planning Division.
Riverside is part of a relatively small number of American cities with such a notable depth of historically significant city planning and building. The next City Planner will set and lead the course for a new generation of great city planning, urban design, and historic preservation. The successful candidate will have a broad background in all aspects of city planning, urban design, land use, downtown revitalization, historic preservation and environmental review with a public agency and a strong track record of success in managing teams dedicated to "lean urbanism" and facilitating investment that results in quality placemaking and city building.
Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Planning, Urban Design, or related field. Master's Degree in Planning, Urban Design, or related field is highly desired. Certification in the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is highly desired.
Experience: Seven years of progressively responsible professional experience in municipal planning, urban design or a closely related field including three years in a supervisory capacity.
