Salary Range: $85,236 - $110,807 (plus excellent benefits)

The Senior Planner is a critical part of the Planning Department team. In the setting of a small, dynamic coastal city, the Senior Planner has the opportunity to work on challenging residential and commercial project review as well as important new long range projects, including comprehensive updates of the sign code, wireless facilities and zoning code ordinances, a new dark skies ordinance and forming policy for issues like sea level rise and other coastal planning matters. The Senior Planner also serves as a mentor to junior staff and a liaison to other departments and agencies.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in urban planning, community development, business or public administration or related field and four (4) years of professional experience in planning, zoning and related community development activities. A minimum of six (6) years of relevant, increasingly responsible experience and a Master’s degree in city planning, public administration or a closely related field are preferred. American Institute of Certified Planners certification is highly desirable. Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License and have a satisfactory driving record.
