Pedestrian Bicycle Coordinator (Senior Planner)

  • Performs intermediate-level professional and administrative work in support of the Palm Beach Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Multimodal Team. 
  • Emphasis is on the bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure. 
  • Develops the non-motorized components of the MPO's Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) and other major MPO products such as regional transportation/greenways and trails/multi-modal corridor and transportation land use plans. 
  • Oversees the MPO's Transportation Alternatives funding program and the implementation of non-motorized projects in the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). 
  • Administers the Bicycle Trailways and Pedestrian Advisory Committee and prepares agendas and backup for the monthly meetings and special subcommittee meetings as required. Administers the Transportation Alternatives grant program and establishes time lines for completion of work. Coordinates with local governments and agencies to develop and incorporate projects with MPO plans and programs. 
  • Administers the Bicycle and Pedestrian count program; performs administrative tasks to support MPO objectives and to meet other state and federal requirements; participates/leads outreach events as they pertain to bicycle and pedestrian transportation planning. 
  • Reviews and comments on non-motorized components of transportation project design plans; monitors and evaluates performance of non-motorized transportation system within a Geographic Information System (GIS) database; collaborates with external consultants, professional MPO planners, technical specialists and support personnel participating in assigned program/system activities; oversees work orders as assigned. 
  • Provides related information and technical assistance to the general public and other agencies with nonmotorized transportation planning; participates in partner agency committees; confers with civic leaders, government officials, resident groups, and homeowner's associations to identify issues, goals and objectives and to present and discuss active transportation plans. 
  • Assists in data collection and analysis as required; performs additional duties as assigned. 
  • Work is assigned and performed under the supervision of the Multimodal Manager (Principal Planner) and is reviewed through consultations and review of completed work.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Urban/Regional Planning or closely related field; minimum of three (3) years of professional planning experience. Equivalency: Related Master's Degree and two (2) years of professional planning experience.

PREFERENCE FOR: Experience in Transportation Planning; three (3) years of experience with MPO {must specify on application).
