Agricultural Preservation Planner

The Calvert County Department of Planning and Zoning is seeking a talented, energetic and motivated professional to join its team. This position performs complex and specialized planning and zoning administration work as an independent contributor/expert and/or in a consultation and advisory capacity with other county planners on major projects. Work involves field inspections and investigations to establish facts and to prepare recommendations regarding compliance with land use laws, rules and regulations. Work at this level requires advanced professional training and specialized experience in land use planning. Workers report to administrative and technical supervisors.

 The ideal candidate will have experience with advanced principles and practices of land use planning as applied to municipal planning and zoning administration, as well as effective project management experience.  Must be able to interpret and apply land use laws, rules and regulations and establish/maintain effective working relationships with others encountered in the work.

TRAINING AND/OR EDUCATION

Master's degree in planning, urban studies, landscape architecture, project management, or related field such as environmental science or archaeology. 

EXPERIENCE

Two years of professional planning or related experience which must include considerable experience managing daily operations, projects, customer service and policy development and implementation.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES

Valid driver’s license.
