Job Title:

Corridor Revitalization Coordinator


The Department is seeking a Corridor Revitalization Coordinator to strategically align infrastructure investments, support business growth and viability in targeted commercial corridors. 

The position will be responsible for identifying, negotiating, and coordinating corridor improvement projects and programs while expanding opportunities for placemaking and equitable economic development.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze / process / track grant funding proposals for redevelopment projects related to:
    • façade improvement
    • brownfield redevelopment
    • corridor revitalization
    • building security enhancements
  • Serve as a liaison & champion for creative placemaking efforts in targeted commercial corridors
  • Work closely with various community organizations & partners to initiate / develop new programs & projects to further the City’s objectives for corridor revitalization
  • Evaluate projects utilizing cost & benefit analysis / fiscal & economic impact analyses / market assessments
  • Prepare reports involving business trends / demographic profiles / general planning / economic development related services within the City’s targeted commercial revitalization geographies
  • Represent the Department & City through presentations to neighborhood / educational / civic / professional organizations
  • Communicate complicated economic development topics & objectives
  • Keep informed of new regulations / pending legislation / trends in community development & corridor revitalization that impact department programs / processes

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proven ability to actively engage diverse audiences through presentations / public speaking / written correspondence / individual or small group discussions
  • Established capacity to establish & maintain effective working relationships with:
    • grant applicants
    • general public
    • agency representatives
    • community groups
    • development community
    • media representatives
  • Working knowledge of real estate development financial statements & pro formas / market studies / development plans / bid documents
  • Demonstrated propensity for critical thinking & problem solving 
  • Robust affinity for innovation & curiosity
  • High degree of comfort with self-direction
  • Strong influencing & promotional skills
  • Proficiency with Excel / Word / PowerPoint
  • Ability to conduct research / analyze data / prepare & maintain reports
  • Understanding of economic development theories / principles / practices / techniques related to:
    • land use
    • urban planning
    • community development
    • strategic planning

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct or indirect experience with the public process

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree with three (3) years of relevant work experience; or a Bachelor’s degree with on year of relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential job duties
