Definition
Under supervision, to perform entry-level professional work in Transportation Planning; to coordinate activities and studies, including dissemination of information on all phases and promotion of transportation programs; and to perform related duties as required.

Essential Functions
Makes assigned investigations regarding transportation, public transit, ridesharing, and land use issues as they relate to studies and projects undertaken by the City of Burbank; compiles and maintains statistical data on public transportation, dial-a-rides, streets and highways, rail transportation, transportation demand management and other transportation information; writes reports and memos; prepares charts and graphs; coordinates transportation demand management projects for City staff; makes presentations to the Transportation Board and City Council; represents the Transportation Planning Program at local and regional meetings; drives on City business.

Minimum Qualifications
Employment Standards: Knowledge of transportation planning principles, and terminology; the techniques of preparing maps, graphs, and charts; basic statistical methods. Ability to prepare legible sketches and write reports; analyze relatively complex planning problems and recommend solutions; make oral presentations; establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, and the public.

Education/Training: Graduation from an accredited four-year college with a specialization in planning, transportation, engineering, political science, public administration, sociology, geography, or a related field.  Experience working with a transportation authority is preferred.

License & Certificates: A valid California Class "C" driver's license or equivalent at time of appointment.
