Senior Planner (Minimum of 3 years experience), Special Projects Manager (Minimum of 6 years experience)

Schmitz & Associates, Inc. is a land development and planning consulting firm based in Agoura Hills, California. For the past 25 years, our team of skilled planners has assisted hundreds of clients throughout Central and Southern California in determining the best and most feasible options for the development and use of their properties, and in obtaining the necessary entitlements for their residential, commercial, agricultural, municipal and industrial projects. From the conceptual design phase to the public hearing process, we offer the requisite land use planning services and coordinate with our clients and necessary technical consultants to plan and design land development projects, and usher these projects through the complex discretionary entitlement processes.

We are presently looking for either a senior level associate to join our dynamic team. Applicants must have at least 3 years of professional experience as a municipal planner or private sector planning consultant. Candidates with demonstrated management experience are preferred. Applicants must have excellent professional writing (a writing sample is required), organizational and time management skills. Knowledge of and experience with the California Coastal Act (CCA) and regulations, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), California Fish and Wildlife Codes and Regulatory processes, Clean Water Act (CWA), Subdivision Map Act (SMA), Building Codes, Zoning Laws and principles of planning, zoning, and architecture are preferred. The qualified candidate should have experience managing and processing complex entitlements for coastal development projects with little to no assistance from others. Ideal candidates will have educational backgrounds in Land Use Planning, Environmental Science, Public Policy, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or law. Candidates with AICP, LEED AP, or CEP certifications preferred. Knowledge of GIS, CAD, SketchUp and other similar programs is a plus.
