SALARY RANGE: $70,359 - $111,283 ANNUALIZED

NATURE OF WORK:
This is highly responsible administrative and professional work in the City Plan Department. Work involves functioning as chief deputy to the Executive Director and the supervision of zoning planning and research staff. The Assistant Director of Planning is responsible for initiating and preparing the city’s Comprehensive Plan of Development. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Executive Director with considerable latitude for the exercise of independent professional judgment, and is reviewed through conferences and evaluation of results.
Graduations from a four year college or university and a Master’s Degree in regional or city planning, urban design, architecture, law, economics, or related field; and 5 to 10 years of experience in city or regional planning work; including 1 to 3 years in a supervisory capacity; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities as stated in the job description, including but not limited to: Thorough knowledge of all aspects of planning and research; Considerable knowledge of specialized areas pertinent to comprehensive planning such as zoning, land use regulations and practices, environment, economics, and capital programming; Considerable knowledge and experience in preparation of neighborhood, downtown and comprehensive plans; Ability to supervise and evaluate the work of a large professional planning staff.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Eligibility for full A.I.C.P. certification.
