This is a full-time, two year temporary position that includes health insurance, paid holidays, and paid leave accrual. The Loudoun County Department of Planning and Zoning seeks a talented, highly-motivated individual to serve as a Planning Analyst in a dynamic department guiding land development in one of the fastest growing counties in the nation. The position analyzes and presents data that is integral to County Boards and Commissions as they evaluate proposed developments and plan future public facilities and services. This temporary, full-time position will be responsible for creating and populating databases that track entitled residential and nonresidential projects. This includes researching approved land development projects and records (building permits, site plans, subdivision plats, zoning concept plan amendments, proffer statements), retrieving data, and creating and populating databases or Microsoft Excel worksheets. The successful candidate must be a self-starter and possess superior attention to detail. Excellent research and data gathering skills are a must, and familiarity working with databases, Excel spreadsheets, and Geographic Information Systems (ArcGIS) is a plus. The ideal candidate will also be familiar with and/or have experience with by-right and legislative land development processes.
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Demographics, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Systems Analysis, Urban Planning, or Related Field and a minimum of three years of directly related experience. Requires a strategic thinker capable of synthesizing information from many sources and ability to communicate and advise program managers and executive leaders. Requires Microsoft Excel and GIS skills. Microsoft Access skills are preferred. The successful candidate will undergo a criminal background, credit check, and DMV driving record check.
