Planner/ Designer – Senior Level

Experience required: 6-10 years

The Lakota Group is seeking a Senior-level Planner with 6-10 years of professional work experience. All candidates should be highly creative self-starters with a passion for the planning profession and a desire to learn and grow into the business at all levels.  

  • Manage projects concurrently and adjust to dynamic project needs, depending on project type or scale
  • Develop new business activity, write proposals, maintain client relationships, and establish new contacts
  • Manage and track project budgets and invoicing
  • Oversee Project Managers and Associates within your group and be accountable for the successful completion of projects
  • Take an active lead in participating in presentations and interviews
  • Seek out leadership roles and speaking opportunities in professional organizations
  • Promote teamwork among other Lakota team members
  • Take on internal operations roles to enhance Lakota’s key capabilities

Skills Required

  • Project management and organization skills
  • Strong collaborator and organizer with proven ability to successfully lead multidisciplinary design teams
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Track record of identifying and pursuing business development and marketing leads
  • Proficiency in GIS and Adobe Creative and Microsoft Office Suites


  • Minimum Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, or a related field
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in Planning, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, or a related field
  • Required: AICP
  • Preferred: Any additional accreditations
