The City of Topeka is accepting applications for a newly developed positon, a Fire Plans Revewer.

This position examines building plans and site development plans for all non-structural issues related to specifications for fire suppression, fire detection, special hazards, high piled storage and hazardous materials installations to insure compliance with locally adopted ordinances and codes/regulations. Works with city staff, developers, architects, engineers, builders and the general public to answer questions, inform, monitor, and ensure professional and timely project completion. Provides input on building permit issuance and receipt of deferred submittals of fire detection and fire suppression plans. 

Minimum qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent, related degree in architecture, engineering, construction science or closely related field preferred, experience as a Fire Inspector preferred. Must have the ability to read and interpret Fire and Life Safety codes and other locally adopted City ordinances. Must possess and maintain a valid  driver’s license and city insurable driving record, must obtain Kansas driver's license within six months of hire date.

$23.67 - $26.56 per hour, DOQ.
