Gemini Arts Initiative (GAI) is overseeing the development of Powerhouse Workshop, a contemporary arts center and art fabrication facility established to serve the needs of working artists. Scheduled to open in 2020, the Powerhouse Workshop will provide industrial fabrication shops, a materials library, and flexible space for exhibitions, installations and public programs—supporting investigation, experimentation, and collaboration across media and disciplines. The Powerhouse Workshop will be run by the Powerhouse Environmental Arts Foundation (PEAF).

GAI is seeking a part-time (20 hours per week) Program Assistant to support the CEO, Capital Projects Director and Capital Projects Manager as the Powerhouse project enters construction. This position will play a key role on a fast-paced, exciting project. The position will interface with the GAI team as well as other internal stakeholders and external parties.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing program and administrative support to CEO, Capital Projects Director and Capital Projects Manager
  • Scheduling and coordinating internal and external meetings
  • Maintaining electronic and paper project files
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining electronic file structure for all project files
  • Coordinating CEO review of time sensitive documents
  • Reviewing and processing invoices
  • Tracking project spending
  • Maintaining contact lists
  • Drafting internal and external presentations and presenting internally on project process
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • At least one year of office experience
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and Google Docs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to think critically, multi-task and take initiative
  • Detail-oriented
  • Enjoyment of a fast-paced, mission-driven work environment
  • Experience working in a start-up environment
  • Organized, detail oriented, able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexible, creative, resourceful, interested in problem-solving 
  • Capital project or community development work experience or interest a plus
  • Qualified candidates of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply
