The San Mateo County Transit District is the administrative body for public transit and transportation programs in San Mateo County, California: SamTrans bus service, Redi-Wheels paratransit service, Caltrain commuter rail service and the managing agency for the San Mateo County Transportation Authority. The District transports approximately 32 million customers a year and is one of the nation’s top transit agencies. The San Mateo County Transit District seeks a Planning Analyst II (Operations Planning) to assist in the fixed-route bus service design/planning of bus service plans or programs for the San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans).

The Planning Analyst II of Operations Planning will plan fixed-route bus service throughout San Mateo County, as well as assist in the development of policies, procedures and projects including transit and transportation studies. The Planning Analyst will also coordinate planning meetings to discuss project schedule, budget and related activities with internal and external stakeholders, present agency planning initiatives at meetings both internally and externally including presenting goals and objectives of planning projects, develop project scopes, schedules and budgets, manage selection and performance of consultant contract services for technical support, review and analyze bus service and performance, develop and schedule timetables for regular revenue service, construction and special events, communicate and educate stakeholders on changes in policies and practices within the organization, audit bus plan changes for compliance with SamTrans Title VI programs, assist with stakeholder review and coordination of public outreach for planning activities and initiatives, coordinate with grants department as they develop grant applications and assist with reports and other communication to senior staff, board members and outside agencies and committees.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, transportation planning, transportation engineering, engineering, economics, public policy, business administration, sustainability, or related field with two (2) years of full time planning experience. GIS mapping experience is desirable. Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
