Adam Gordon

Adam Gordon is co-founder and chair of the board of The Next American City, the Philadelphia-based quarterly magazine about the future of cities and suburbs that the New York Times calls "a subtle plan to change the world." The Next American City promotes a vision of the future of cities and suburbs of socially and environmentally sustainable economic growth, through the magazine and associated events, op-eds, and public advocacy.
Adam is also a staff attorney and Equal Justice Works Fellow at Fair Share Housing Center, a public interest organization in Cherry Hill, New Jersey founded by plaintiffs and attorneys from New Jersey's landmark Mount Laurel case, which requires every town in New Jersey to provide for its fair share of regional need of affordable housing. He has served as a consultant to non-profit and private organizations on innovative financing techniques for development of affordable housing in high-cost communities. He is also an advocate for the development of greenways and served for seven years on the board of the Farmington Canal Rails to Trails Association in Connecticut.
A native of central New Jersey, Adam now lives in Collingswood, New Jersey in a 80-year old bungalow near the WPA-designed Cooper River Park system. He holds a B.A. and J.D. from Yale.
