GAO Finds Congestion Pricing Works

7 May 2003 - 8:00am

The General Accounting Office concludes that congestion pricing could work in the U.S.

"The General Accounting Office said some motorists are willing to pay a fee to travel in less-crowded rush-hour lanes normally restricted to vehicles with multiple riders, while others could be persuaded to travel at off-peak times if it would cost less. Electronic toll collection methods, such as E-ZPass, make these systems easier to impose."
