New Affordable Housing Isn't Affordable For Some

Critics say redevelopment projects displace longtime residents who cannot afford the new affordable housing.
"Redevelopment companies seek to improve run-down neighborhoods by building sparkling affordable housing on depreciated land, for the good of their cities -- and for a profit...But the approach bothers critics, who say the new developments -- sometimes built on vacant land but often where public housing once stood -- are not 'affordable' for the poor people in the neighborhoods."
