Divided European City Looks Toward A Reunion

A city bisected by the Polish-German border faces the challenges of a reunion.
"Görlitz and Zgorzelec were a single German city until the end of World War II, when the victorious allies effectively allowed Poland to take control of Görlitz's eastern half. Germans who lived there were forced to leave, and Zgorzelec was reborn as a Polish town...Soon, work will begin on a pedestrian bridge, which will finally link the two sides of this sundered place in a more permanent way."
