Las Vegas: Disneyland For Grown Ups?

Roger Lewis profiles the best and worst of planning in Las Vegas.
"Like most western cities, Las Vegas is laid out in a grid of east-west and north-south streets. The Strip, officially Nevada Highway 604, traverses the grid in a generally north-south orientation. At the Strip's southern end lies McCarran International Airport, close enough to reach on foot from several of the largest hotels. The airport's location so close to Las Vegas Boulevard and the center of the city tells you that, only a few decades ago, this was a very small town that grew very, very fast."
