Reopening California's Tribal Casino Compact

California is negotiating to provide local governments more control over Indian casino development.
"With an eye toward providing local governments more control over Indian casino development, Gov. Davis has asked 61 California Indian tribes to renegotiate the states three-year-old gambling compact.Although he has declined to be specific about how much control local governments should have, Davis has suggested that Indian casinos should be subject to the same land use regulations as any other project."
