Over-regulated Housing Markets Create Sprawl
1 April 2003 - 7:00am
Over-regulated housing markets are expensive and the limited availability of land creates sprawl.
"People want affordable homes. No one wants to provide this more than builders and developers....If we don't provide it, people will go to another county or buy an older home...We would all lose...Housing studies show that highly regulated housing markets are the nation's most expensive and slowest-growing...restricted availability of land can only drive up land cost, greatly reduce lot size, increase the cost of homes and create sprawl.
