Continued growth will lengthen time travelling to work, chew up farmland.
"People who move to the suburbs to escape crowds could find themselves trapped in a web of ever-worsening traffic congestion unless the province controls sprawl across farmland and creates more transit options, new projections suggest.In less than 30 years, the number of cars on the roads could increase by 50 per cent and the average daily commuting time for someone who lives at the edge of the Toronto area could increase by as much as an hour a day, according to the study titled Urban Futures, which was prepared for the Central Ontario Smart Growth Panel."
