What Ever Happened To The Office Space?

The issue of how much office space to build has been put on the back burner. But is this good for lower Manhattan?
"..The city is pursuing an agenda that would forever diminish downtown's prominence as a financial office district - as the mayor himself has made clear to anyone willing to listen to his speeches and read his proposals beyond the first few words... His 'vision' for lower Manhattan, unveiled in December, regarded replacing 11 million square feet of lost offices as contingent on first jamming through a host of his pet proposals for downtown transit improvements, recreation and parkland."
