Planners and architects offer personal perspectives on the planning challenges facing Belfast, Calcutta, Johannesburg and São Paulo.
"As the earth's population increases and a growing number of people move away from rural areas, cities everywhere are under pressure. But the challenges faced by the major metropolises around the world are surprisingly different. A city's circumstances today are very much determined by its social, geographic, economic, political and cultural background... Local architects and urban thinkers discuss these questions, and more, in their personal perspectives on the past, present and future challenges of these cities."
