Federal Funds Sought For Anti-gridlock Plan
20 February 2003 - 5:00am
A $150 million relief plan for people trying to reach downtown Fort Lauderdale from the airport, suburbs or beach is in its final stages before submission to Congress.
A complex anti-congestion proposal, in the works for 10 months, aims to get people into, out of and around downtown faster and without their cars. The system would go beyond the rubber-tire bus system now in place. The window of opportunity opens this year, when Congress is expected to re-authorize the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA-21).

It's all too easy for projects to claim that they will be successful places, and all too hard to tell ahead of time which ones actually will.
