Ottawa Urged To Invest In Public Transit

Advisory panel recommends $1-billion a year in federal budget for fund to promote public transportation in cities.
"The federal government should encourage Canadians to leave their cars at home in favour of public transit by creating an urban transit fund, beginning with $1-billion in next week's federal budget, an advisory panel on the environment says.In order to make the fund sustainable over the long term, Ottawa should further invest $1-billion a year for the next decade, the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy recommended in a report released recently."
