A major benefactor clashes with art museum.
A philanthropist's design for a lakefront education center in Milwaukee draws fire from the Milwaukee Art Museum, who's Santiago Calatrava-designed expansion is the city's most notable piece of architecture. "Instead of building an imitation Calatrava or an echo of an echo, Pier Wisconsin's architects should be encouraged to honor the principles embodied in the museum addition. Buoyancy. Transparency. Respect for the past. Urbanism."
