Denver: High And Mighty

30 January 2003 - 11:00am

APA profiles the history of planning in Denver in preparation for the 2003 APA conference.

Twenty years ago, downtown emptied out after dark, but since then the residential population has grown by 66 percent, and the area has evolved into a 24-hour community. Many residents live in high-priced lofts in the Lower Downtown National Historic District — or LoDo — which contains one of the nation's largest collections of 19th century commercial buildings. People from all over the city and surrounding suburbs flock to LoDo's restaurants, bars, and sports facilities.
