Florida County To Draft Age-restrictive Zoning Code
17 January 2003 - 11:00am
Hillsborough County, Florida Commissioners voted to begin drafting a zoning code to put age restrictions in place for retirement communities; if approved, this would be the first such zoning code on the East Coast.
"Sun City Center residents began calling for the measure after learning that many of the community's deed restrictions, which traditionally set age restrictions, have expired. Adjusting the county code, residents say, would eliminate the need to renew the deed restrictions. A county report determined that such a plan would stand up in court if legally challenged."

It's all too easy for projects to claim that they will be successful places, and all too hard to tell ahead of time which ones actually will.
