Urban Services District Planned
10 January 2003 - 1:00pm
Louisville proposes an Urban Services District that would deliver the same services to residents in Louisville's old city limits without raising taxes.
Louisville Metro Mayor Jerry Abramson announced an ordinance that would set up an Urban Services District within Louisville's old city limits. The ordinance, expected to be approved unanimously by the Metro Council, would allow the metro government to deliver the same services to residents inside the district without raising taxes... "Traditionally, city residents have paid more in taxes than county residents and received additional services, such as full-time, paid fire protection and garbage collection."
