A test of a "fully-operational" Hyperloop transportation system is scheduled to take place next week in the United Arab Emirates.
Elon Musk's dream of superfast transportation tubes zipping us around the world is getting a try out next week. A Hyperloop tube system connecting Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the UAE will have an unveiling on November 7th. Patrick Daly of ArchNews reports that the system, designed in part by Danish firm Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) Ideas, will advance the work already done in previous tests in the Las Vegas desert.
In May of this year, BIG, along with Arup and AECOM, partnered with business magnate and global innovator Elon Musk to design and develop the vehicles and spaces necessary to make the Hyperloop system human-friendly. Initial tests earlier this year on a system built in the desert outside of Las Vegas saw the model pods reach speeds of 187 km/h (116 mph) in just 1.1 seconds.
