WTC Designs: Blight On New York

21 December 2002 - 1:00pm

A New York Post columnist calls the new designs for the World Trade Center site "unparalleled ugliness."

"Some very fancy architects were involved in the new plans. That evidently makes their notions more formidable and less easily challenged than the more modest offerings by Bleyer Binder Belle that were so roundly trashed last summer. But most of us who do not attend conferences on the uses of public space or presume to lecture others on the matter in the pages of The New York Times would scream in horror should these renderings become reality. They are, for the most part, an offense to the eye and would be a nightmarish blight on the New York skyline."
