In a move that could have national implications for the wayelectronic waste is handled, Hewlett-Packard willnowsupport California legislation that shifts the cost of computerrecyclingto manufacturers. Gov. Gray Davis vetoed an e-waste measure in October.Butnow that HP is supporting an e-waste bill, a new version has beenresubmitted for the upcoming legislative session. The Silicon ValleyToxicsCoalition (http://www.svtc.org) called HP "the linchpin for producerresponsibility."
