Alarming UN Report On Population And Global Poverty

A U.N. report titled "People, poverty and possibilities" is alarming but points out measures that can help combat global poverty.
"The statistics are alarming. Half the worlds population lives on less than $2 a day; and a billion people survive on less than $1 a day. ...Yet the report does offer a glimmer of hope by pointing to those measures that can be effective...Developing countries that have invested in education and health careespecially reproductive health carehave seen their fertility rates decline. Smaller families lead to slower population growth. That, in turn, results in more investment, higher savings and higher productivity."
