A New Battleground For Anti-Growth Supporters

Hired tree-sitter is camped out in the branches of a 400-year old tree in an attempt to halt development of a highway in Santa Clarita. His protest has attracted supporters and the media.
"Hired tree-sitter John Quigley has vowed to save the 60-foot oak that has been slated for removal by a developer for a road widening project in this north Los Angeles County suburb.Open space proponents said the fight over the tree represents a new battleground for conservation, because past tree-sitting protests have occurred in forest land."
