Streetcars On Atlanta's Peachtree Street?

Andres Duany challenges the Atlanta community to transform the city's "spine" to be more pedestrian-friendly by adding streetcars.

"In his talk, Duany said Atlanta was a unique city because of Peachtree Street. No other city has a well-developed commercial corridor only a block or two away from 'pastoral' neighborhoods like Ansley Park. Duany also warned Atlanta not to be duped by bean counters and efficiency experts who would push for huge cars with lots of seats and sealed windows. 'Riding a streetcar is an absolute delight,' he said. 'Who wants to sit in a transit car designed by engineers?'"
