Denver's Rezoning Plan Under Fire
20 November 2002 - 10:00am
The Denver city council is considering a sweeping rezoning plan as part of 'Blueprint Denver'. Opponents charge that the plan promotes sprawl.
"The proposed changes, expected to be approved by the council next month, came up during the Blueprint Denver discussions, she said. Blueprint Denver is a sweeping change of zoning rules in the city... One of the key changes is that the ordinance would increase the open space requirement to 62.5 percent from 50 percent. With some scrape- offs, 80 percent of small lots is covered by the new house, Ittelson said. The change will reduce the maximum buildable area to 3,085 square feet from 4,105 square feet, about a 25 percent drop, Knorr said."
