Charlotte Proposes Streetcar Line

Charlotte North Carolina's Area Transit System recommends a streetcar line along Central Avenue. Many neighbors and community leaders oppose the plan.
"CATS chief executive officer Ron Tober points to the streetcars that run in Portland, Ore., as an example of what he wants. They're smaller and less expensive than light rail, costing $10 million a mile compared to $35 million for light rail."
