Metro Phoenix Evades 'Supersprawl' Label

Despite its rapid growth along the urban fringe, Smart Growth America ranked Phoenix low in sprawl.
"Phoenix dodged the supersprawl label despite decades of sustained growth that has gobbled up hundreds of thousands of acres and pushed the Valley's boundaries outward. Researchers said higher-density development offset other negative effects."
