Debunking New Urbanism

Urban policy researcher Dr. Sam Staley counters New Urbanism.
"Dr. Staley sought to let some of the air out of the growing new urbanism movement, which seeks to revive urban neighborhoods and restrict development of farmland. He portrayed the loss of population in the cities as the result of people seeking larger homes...while much of new urbanism focuses on singles or empty-nesters, 'families with children are going to continue to dominate the housing market'...And despite the desire for 'new urbanists' to promote a culture of public transit, 'people want mobility,' he said."
