Should Planners Lead Where Politicians Can't?

A California state senator who's retiring -- but not shy -- says politicans can no longer lead and therefore planners must do it instead.
California cannot solve its regional growth and transportation problems under its current system of government, California State Senator Steve Peace told a gathering of several hundred planners in San Diego on Tuesday. But he challenged planners to show the type of leadership politicians are no longer capable of exhibiting.
