Will Monorail Blend Well With Seattle's Skyline?

The Seattle monorail could become a "powerful icon" for the city.

"The monorail will not be invisible, however, which is why we agree with the Seattle Design Commission (the ETC has worked closely with the commission over the past year) that the monorail must be designed as a graceful piece of civic architecture for what will become a powerful icon for Seattle... Elevated transit systems in other cities (even systems like Chicago's El, which are noisy and much larger than monorail) have increased real estate value and have proven to be magnets for business and pedestrian activity. The monorail will bring these benefits to Seattle, but without the noise and bulk of an elevated steel wheel on steel rail system."
