Does Crime Follow Sprawl?

The Philadeplhia Inquirer draws a connection between urban sprawl and increased crime in South Jersey.
"Sprawl in South Jersey last year was sometimes accompanied by unwelcome growth of another sort: more crime... 'The numbers were triple-checked,' said Capt. John Marolt, the Police Department's spokesman. 'We don't have an explanation... other than that we are a growing community with a large business district and a sizable transient population.'"
