Glendale has finally won the fight for the stadium for the Arizona Cardinals. But was it worth the civic carnage and lost planning opportunities?
"Today, Glendale counts itself fortunate to have won the war to host the stadium. But the bloody casualties left on the battlefield include tattered relationships among the major civic and business leaders, millions spent on cities' knee-capping competition to land the deal, and the Valley-wide vilification of the sports authority... 'I hope the wounds will be healed, but they may not be,' Rep. Laura Knaperek, R-Tempe, lamented. 'It probably was one of the most controversial issues we've dealt with in the last decade.'"
