Orange County Implements Hi-tech 'Talking' Bus System
22 August 2002 - 3:00pm
New voice and display system enhances accessibility and reduces confusion for Orange County transit users.
"The enhancement comes as the Orange County Transportation Authority has been using the Global Positioning System and wireless communication networks to track the locations of buses to keep them running on time. An on-board computer, linked to satellites, triggers an announcement when a bus passes one of 1,100 preprogrammed locations."
