Cities With Most Pedestrian Deaths

According to the Surface Transportation Policy Project, California cities have the greatest number of pedestrian deaths.

"Topping the list of the most dangerous locales are the counties of Solano, Sacramento, Los Angeles, Contra Costa and San Joaquin. The rankings were based on the number of injuries and deaths per capita and the levels of pedestrian activity within those counties. A key similarity among the most dangerous cities with populations of at least 100,000, is a hastily advancing sprawl of homes and businesses which has been built without making pedestrian safety a priority, said James Corless, California director of the transportation group."
