Rejuvenating Alexandra

Johannesburg's Alexandra township, densely populated and economically depressed, is undergoing rejuvenation.
"The World Summit is being held near Johannesburg's Alexandra township, which is now being rejuvenated. Alexandra was (originally) constructed under apartheid as a 'dormitory town' to provide a labour pool for the white city of Johannesburg. This new plan includes exploring Alexandra's employment potential, reducing its high density, improving its surroundings and providing more recreational spaces."
