CA Construction Defect Rules May Change

Developers say they don't want to buildattached housing units in California because of liability for alleged construction defects.
California lawmakers appear to be accepting the longstanding argument that needed construction of condominiums and townhouses is being chilled by construction defect litigation, and legislators might be ready to pass a reform bill this year. Development of condominiums and townhouses fits just about everybody'sdefinition of "smart growth." But developers say they don't want to buildattached, for-sale housing units in California because of liability foralleged construction defects.
