Book Review: Cradle To Cradle
26 July 2002 - 12:00pm
Growth is necessary in nature. They key is pursuing the right kind of growth.
"The idea that growth can be good is anathema to mostenvironmentalists. Yet that's exactly the argument made by WilliamM cDonough and Michael Braungart in their new book "Cradle to Cradle." Take a look at nature, they say, and you'll see that growth is not only good, but necessary; that nature's very abundance is what we depend on and celebrate. The key is pursuing the right kind of growth -- and the key to that is better design. The authors argue that companies ought to design products with an eye toward their entire life cycles, and the book itself lives up to those standards by being supremely recyclable."
