Palm Beach County Debates Development Moratorium
26 July 2002 - 7:00am
Surprising developers, planners and even themselves, Palm Beach County Commissioners agreed on July 24 to consider temporarily halting development.
The moratorium is very much a maybe -- even while agreeing to discuss it, several commissioners were openly opposed. Still, developers are gearing up for a fight. According to Ron Hyman, president-elect of Gold Coast Builders Association, a moratorium would "penalize us for [the county government's]lack of performance. [Moratoriums] indicate ineffectiveness of government."
